Sitting on the western border of Maine, next to New Hampshire, Oxford County has been praised with having the best views in the state. Oxford lies inland from the coast, north of Cumberland County. These coastal lowlands rise up to the Eastern New England Uplands which stretch from Canada to Connecticut. Running through the center of the Uplands, the Longfellow Mountains produce a cornucopia of crystal lakes and rapid rivers that shine on the landscape like glitter in the sun.

Living here is no less awe-inspiring than the scenery. This is regarded as the best place to raise children, considering that it’s one of the safest, most crime-free states in the country and has some of the most progressive medical systems to date. Not to mention all the possibilities that lie in wait for the adventurous and complacent alike. The climate and weather make summers ideal for hiking, biking, rafting, fishing, golfing, and more. By the time winter arrives, a slew of activities like Nordic skiing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and ice skating abound while spectacular mountain backdrops surround you. Do not forget about the abundant history and culture of the area, as well as the entertainment and dining excellence. A person couldn’t ask for anything more.
